Staff of Arboros, Heart of the World-Tree
The Staff of Arboros is grown from a still-living tree god. It is a tall, sentient-looking staff formed from a single living trunk, whose bark shimmers with a pale green glow. The top is crowned with interwoven branches that cradle a gleaming emerald seed. The staff hums with the heartbeat of the ancient forest, and tiny vines drift from the shaft as if the tree itself breathes. A faint fragrance of rain on pine lingers in the air around it.
Lore
Legends say Arboros, the World-Tree, was planted at the dawn of the world to cradle all living forests. His heart beats within this staff, granting it sap-like vitality and the power to bend nature to the wielder's will. The staff is believed to choose its bearer, appearing to those who swear to protect forests and maintain balance in nature. Those who hear its whispers claim to hear leaves rustling and distant echoes of ancient forest songs when it is near.
History
In ages past, the first guardian of the woods, a druid named Aelorin, climbed the roots of the World-Tree and bound Arborosโ heart within a staff to safeguard the grove of Evermead. The staff healed the wounded and felled tyrants who sought to raze woodlands. Since then it has passed through generations of forest wardens, appearing to those who seek to defend nature's balance. The current bearer must prove worthy, for the life of a forest is a fragile balance and the staff will withdraw its power if used to oppress life rather than preserve it.
