Lantern of the Veiled Pantheon
A brass lantern about the size of a mason jar, with glass panels tinted a deep midnight blue. Inside, a pale blue flame wavers, casting a cool, starlit glow. The metalwork is etched with constellations and runes, and the top is crowned with a crescent moon hood studded with tiny star-like gems. When the lantern is opened, delicate lines of light trace across its surface, and faint silhouettes of deities shimmer within the glass as though drawn from the heavens themselves. The lantern carries a sense of watchers unseen, as if the gods themselves might tilt their gaze toward the bearer.
Lore
Forged by the Celestial Cartographers, a reclusive order who mapped the gods as constellations, the Lantern of the Veiled Pantheon was created to remind mortals that divine powers shape destinies from above. Its light does not illumine the world so much as reveal the shapes of powers that govern it. Those who pry too far without faith risk unsettling the silhouettes, while those who seek guidance may glimpse a path laid out in the heavens.
History
Legends tell of a king who consulted the lantern to test his alliance with a war-god and a goddess of knowledge. The sky above him filled with glassy silhouettes, revealing not faces but symbols of their domains. The alliance prevailed, and the lantern passed from sovereign to priest to explorer, each time revealing new facets of the godsโ plans. It is said the lantern can unveil silhouettes of gods long forgotten, their forms fading like starlight when the last star dies.
