Wand of Eldritch Despair
This wand is crafted from dark, twisted wood inlaid with glowing runes, culminating in an actual beholder eye set in an ornate metal frame at its tip. The eye occasionally blinks, casting an unsettling ambiance. Its surface is smooth, contrasting sharply with the jagged, almost organic texture of the metal that encases the eye.
Lore
Forged in the depths of the Underdark, this wand once belonged to a wizard who sought to harness the power of the beholders. Legends say it is infused with the hatred and malice of a legendary beholder slain long ago in battle. Powerful wizards whisper tales of those who wielded it, finding both incredible might and an ever-looming fear of its unpredictable power.
History
The Wand of Eldritch Despair was created by the archmage Valethor, who had studied the beholders for decades. He captured one of their eyes during an ill-fated confrontation, embedding it within the wand to harness its destructive capabilities. After Valethor's disappearance, it resurfaced in various markets, always surrounded by tales of doom and formidable power.
