Lore & Description
Appearance
A tiny, floating candle spirit with a translucent amber wax body and a flickering wick inside. Its flame glows pale blue, casting a warm, glimmering light as it drifts gracefully through air. The waxy form shivers with every breath of wind, and the flame lurches toward anything that looks flammable, sometimes igniting objects by accident as a byproduct of its desire to illuminate the world.
Behavior & Origins
Candleflame Wisps are thought to be the stray remnants of ceremonial flames or lighthouse keepers’ final candles, bound to wanderers’ roads and candlelit halls. They seek light and warmth but are notoriously poor at controlling their own fire. In ruins and woods, they drift from flame to flame, brightening rooms and hearths—while occasionally turning a simple lantern into a roaring fire if a careless spark lingers too long. Adventurers who earn a Candleflame Wisp’s trust may be guided by its light, but they must also learn to mind their surroundings, for the slightest gust or careless torch can set the next chamber ablaze.
