Lore & Description
Appearance
A gleaming, ever-shifting blob of ooze that can mimic treasure: gold coins, glittering gems, and ornate jewelry. To the untrained eye, it sits among a hoard as if truly priceless. Its surface shimmers with mineral luster, and it exudes a faint metallic scent. When disturbed or touched, the treasure form dissolves into a living ooze, releasing a damp, rotten-coin odor as it surges to attack. In its true form, the slime is cooler to the touch than steel and can envelop intruders with sticky, crushing force.
Behavior & Origins
Treasure mimic slimes haunt ruins and cavern hoards, drawn by the scent of valuable metals and the thrill of ambush. They prefer to lie in wait as sparkling treasure until someone dares to claim it, at which point they reveal their true, hungry nature. They are patient and cunning, mimicking only as much as needed to tempt a target, then striking with the raw, shapeless appetite of ooze.
