Infernal Command. As a bonus action, the Infernal Commander can give commands to up to three allied fiends within 60 feet that can hear it. Those fiends can use their reaction to immediately move up to their speed and make one weapon attack.
Aura of Despair. Creatures of the Infernal Commander's choice within 30 feet and that can see it must succeed on a DC 20 Wisdom saving throw or be frightened for 1 minute. A creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success.
Innate Spellcasting. Infernal Commander's spellcasting ability is Charisma (spell save DC 20, +12 to hit with spell attacks). It can innately cast the following spells:
1/day each: dominate person, power word stun, destructive wave
3/day each: fireball, hold monster, cone of cold
At will: hellish rebuke, thaumaturgy, mage hand
Cantrips (at will): minor illusion, friends

Actions

Multiattack. The Infernal Commander makes three attacks: two with its Infernal Blade and one with its Flame Lash.
Infernal Blade. Melee weapon Attack: +12 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 21 (3d8+8) slashing damage. This weapon is a vicious, barbed sword that deals an additional 10 (3d6) fire damage on a hit.
Flame Lash. Ranged weapon Attack: +12 to hit, range 30/120 ft., one target. Hit: 19 (2d10+8) fire damage. A long whip of flame that ignites the target on a hit, dealing an additional 10 (3d6) fire damage at the start of its next turn.
Hellfire Burst (Recharge 5-6). The Infernal Commander unleashes a burst of hellfire in a 20-foot radius centered on itself. Each creature in that area must make a DC 20 Dexterity saving throw, taking 55 (10d10) fire damage on a failed save, or half as much on a successful one.

Legendary Actions

The Infernal Commander can take 3 legendary actions, choosing from the options below. Only one legendary action can be used at a time and only at the end of another creature's turn. The creature regains spent legendary actions at the start of its turn.

Command Ally. The Infernal Commander targets one fiend ally within 60 feet, granting it an immediate attack.
Wrathful Gaze. The Infernal Commander targets one creature within 30 feet. That creature must succeed on a DC 20 Charisma saving throw or take 22 (4d10) psychic damage.
Teleport (Costs 2 Actions). The Infernal Commander magically teleports up to 120 feet to an unoccupied space it can see.

Regional Effects

The region containing the creature's lair is warped by its magic, creating the following effects:

  • The infernal terrain warps the fabric of reality, causing every creature that begins its turn within 1 mile of the commander's lair to feel the weight of despair, imposing disadvantage on saving throws against being frightened.
  • Fiendish creatures within 1 mile of the lair that die return as lesser devils within 1 hour.
  • Fires within 1 mile of the lair burn with hellish flames, dealing an extra 1d6 fire damage.

If the Infernal Commander dies, these effects fade over the course of 1d10 days.
