Lore & Description
Appearance
A feral mushroom creature that stalks the damp understory. Its cap is a mottled umbrella of browns and sickly greens, rimmed with pale, translucent fungus that glows faintly in moonlight. A network of writhing mycelium runs down its stalk like veins, and a spongy, root-like set of legs lets it lurch and scuttle with surprising speed. When struck, its cap shakes and a cloud of bright, hallucinogenic spores pours forth, coating nearby foes in a second, more volatile sensory storm.
Behavior & Origins
Feralsprout Shamblers dwell in dense, wet forests where fungal networks run beneath the soil. They prefer ambush, using the forestโs shadows to confuse and misdirect prey. The spores they release after being struck can propagate their lineage, as curious captors find themselves driven to harvest the shamblersโ strange fruitโan act that often proves fatal to the captor's party as visions lead them into treacherous terrain.
