Lore & Description
Appearance
A bronze church bell hangs from a twisted iron frame, its surface covered with runes that glow faintly with infernal light. Inside, a writhing demon's face is barely visible through the bell's surface, its horns curling like the clapper. The demon's body is bound to the bell by chains of iron that hum with every toll. When rung, the bell's sound crawls up the tower walls and into the sanctum, releasing the demon to lash outward with spectral fury. The moment the bell is rung, the demon's presence leaks into the surrounding area causing dread and echoes of despair.
Behavior & Origins
The Bellbound Demon was once a minor demon who was imprisoned within a church bell by a pious priest who sought to imprison a blasphemous voice. Over centuries, the demon learned to feed on sound and fear, and now it awaits the ring of its prison to shatter the church's peace and unleash its wrath. It can be appeased by silence or by reciting a prayer to hold the toll. Adventurers who seek to ring the bell to reveal the demon risk a tether to the demon's chain.
