Lore & Description
Appearance
A medium lizard with ember-red scales that glow faintly with crackling heat. its eyes shimmer like molten gold, and a line of heat-laced spines runs along its back. The mouth smells of sulfur, and every breath carries a tail of warm air. When angered, the scales flare brighter and a thin wisp of flame curls from its nostrils. It moves with surprising speed and strikes with a disciplined bite, a whipping tail, and a sizzling breath that remembers the desertโs furnace.
Behavior & Origins
Fire lizards are native to scorching deserts and volcanic footholds, where temperatures scorch the stone and lava vents hiss like snakes. They are quick, stubborn predators that favor ambush and hit-and-run tactics, using their breath to drive prey away from their nests or into hazardous terrain. Although small, they are resilient and play a crucial role in the desert ecosystem by feeding on fast insects and small rodents that thrive in heat. Some explorers claim to have seen fire lizards waking at dawn from lava tubes, their bodies radiating warmth as if their very blood were molten rock.
