Lore & Description
Appearance
A vast expanse of living wood, moss, and whispering leaves that seems to breathe. The Moving Grove resembles a forest condensed into a single, sentient organism: emerald bark, luminescent moss, and sap-laced air. Its canopy shifts with a slow, purposeful motion, and roots drag beneath the soil like trailing fingers. When night falls, the grove moves, sliding across the landscape to a new clearing by morning. Hollow trunks glimmer with restless eyes, and the air is thick with the scent of damp earth and new growth.
Behavior & Origins
Legends speak of the Moving Grove as an ancient, awakened forest bound to a druidic oath gone awry. It travels to protect sacred groves, avoid logging, or to collect life from places it deems harming its sanctity. Villagers wake to find familiar paths replaced by unfamiliar woodlands, and familiar sounds replaced by the creak of shifting timber. Some travelers have learned to follow the groveโs silent signals, while others vanish into its maze-like hollows, never to be seen again. The grove does not seek hostility, but it will defend its new domain with unyielding tenacity.
