Appearance
A sleek, tuxedoed bird with a glossy black back and white belly, the Arctic Penguin stands about the height of a halfling and moves with surprising agility on ice and water. Its eyes glint with curiosity, and its waddling gait hides a quick, predatory bite. Feathers ruffle as it dives into the frigid waves, then resurfaces with a glint of hunger in its beady eyes. Its wings resemble paddle-shaped flippers that slice through water as if born for it, and when threatened it circles, diving in for a rapid strike.
Behavior & Origins
Arctic Penguins are opportunistic ambush hunters of coastal ice floes. They prefer cold seas and rocky shores, where they hunt fish and small crustaceans. Though small, their swift swimming and sudden charges can surprise even seasoned sailors. In swarms, they can overwhelm larger foes through relentless, coordinated dives, but alone they are cautious and mindful of danger.
